Tiered wedding pie. 2013 From bottom to top: pumpkin, blueberry, pecan, thimbleberry jam, strawberry rhubarb, pumpkin. |
my brand-new husband and I cutting the pie! |
This pie was a collaborative effort. It was originally my brain-child, but my mom convinced me that I should have someone else be in charge of making the pie (as it would need to be made the day of!). My mom and aunt graciously put their pie-making skills together to create this pie the day of the wedding. The adorable kissing fish on the top and the fish jumping out of the third tier down were my aunt's idea.
It was hard to find ideas online for how to successfully create a tiered pie--which was surprising since pretty much anything can be found on the internet. Eventually we decided to tier the pie by using little columns, which were placed in the pies after they were baked. The top few tiers are actually sitting on tiny wooden tables that I found at a craft store; the other tiers use the same kind of columns used in tiered wedding cake.
